Eric Plemmons, 26, was arrested in early April after investigators linked him to Kik accounts full of child sexual abuse material. According to court records, he first tried the classic “who, me?” denial—until investigators showed him his own accounts. At that point, he admitted to both sending and receiving the material. Because apparently the only thing worse than possessing it is sharing it.

Authorities say he had more than 100 but fewer than 500 files of abuse images, which is somehow supposed to make this less horrifying. He now faces multiple felony charges, including two counts of possession with intent to promote. His bail is set at $200,000, which is both a steep price and somehow still not enough when you consider the damage done to real children in those images.

Lubbock’s motto might as well be: “Come for the affordable housing, stay for the never-ending string of sex crime arrests.” At this point, are we sure the city isn’t just running a permanent courtroom residency program?
