Two men are now in custody after Lubbock police executed a search warrant on Cantu Towing, uncovering a car theft operation straight out of a bad reality show. Jerry Cantù, the guy whose name is literally on the trucks, and Joshua Vidales were arrested after eight vehicles were seized.

Cantù’s rap sheet from this little adventure? Theft, drug possession, illegal parking, and—because why not—failing to prove his pet had a rabies shot. Because nothing says “legit businessman” like stealing cars while your dog’s papers aren’t in order.

Vidales got scooped up too, but Cantù really stole the spotlight, both figuratively and literally. If you thought dealing with a towing company was shady when they charged you $300 to release your car, try imagining they never intended to release it at all.

Only in Lubbock do you call a tow truck and risk the driver being the actual thief.
