After months on the run, Jonathan Hernandez, 40, turned himself in Wednesday on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.

Court documents reveal a juvenile close to Hernandez reported in April 2024 that he sexually assaulted her multiple times since 2021. The child gave a consistent forensic interview, while Hernandez denied the allegations during a May phone interview—then conveniently agreed to a polygraph he never showed up for.

Since then, police couldn’t get him on the phone, and Hernandez disappeared until finally surfacing to surrender this week.

He’s now sitting in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.

When your defense strategy is “Sure, I’ll take a polygraph—oops, gotta ghost now,” don’t expect anyone to buy your innocence.
