Nothing says “good morning, Lubbock” like a high-speed chase ending in a midtown demolition derby. According to LPD, 28-year-old Dusty Grubbs decided that stopping for police at 9:55 a.m. just wasn’t on his to-do list. Instead, he took a stolen truck for a joyride that topped out around 100 mph before physics, gravity, and a telephone pole teamed up to end his NASCAR cosplay near 54th and Slide.

Police tried a containment maneuver — which is cop-speak for “please stop before we all end up on the news” — but Grubbs allegedly rammed a cruiser and kept going. The chase ended when he plowed into a 71-year-old man’s car, flipped multiple times, and finally wrapped things up by embracing a utility pole like it was a long-lost friend.

Grubbs and his three truck buddies were hauled off to UMC with moderate injuries, while the innocent driver, Perry Clark, sustained serious injuries because apparently “innocent bystander” is a dangerous hobby in Lubbock.

Just another day where “stolen truck + 100 mph + Slide Road” somehow equals “Wednesday.”
