According to EverythingLubbock, Alejandro Nunez-Beltran, 32, is now facing an additional charge of sexual abuse of a child under 14 on top of earlier charges for indecency with a child involving sexual contact and an immigration violation. The allegations stem from July 2019, when officers were called to the 11600 block of CR 2500 following a report of sexual assault involving a juvenile.
Court documents say the victim told police Nunez-Beltran performed sexually lewd acts on her more than five times. She also reportedly expressed fear that reporting him could get him into trouble and lead to him being sent back to Mexico — a detail that’s both heartbreaking and grimly revealing about how power and fear work in these situations.
A warrant was issued in August 2019, and the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office even asked the public for help finding him that year. Despite that, Nunez-Beltran wasn’t arrested until January 8, 2026, when he was picked up in Terry County — because apparently “wanted since 2019” is more of a suggestion than a deadline.
He’s now being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center with a $750,000 bond and an immigration hold, marking the end of a nearly six-year gap between alleged crimes and real consequences. Justice, it seems, did eventually arrive — it just took the scenic route.
If it takes six years, a public manhunt, and another county to make an arrest, is that justice… or just Lubbock finally getting around to it?
