A mugshot of Seth Moore, a man with short blonde hair and a blank expression, appearing over a blurred background of the Lubbock County Detention Center.

Meet 36-year-old Seth Moore, Lubbock’s latest self-appointed vigilante and a man who clearly has a very loose definition of the word “firepower.” Back in December, Moore decided to play action hero in the 5000 block of 100th Street, rocking an ensemble that included a red jacket, black vest, and white glasses—because nothing says “stealthy investigation” like looking like a background character from The Hunger Games.

According to police, Moore’s version of “taking down a prostitution ring” involved kicking in a front door and opening fire on a house’s windows with… a BB gun. That’s right. While the victim understandably thought they were being targeted by a gunman, Moore was essentially just aggressively plinking the siding. After his high-octane toy shoot-out, he hopped back in his car and drove away, presumably to go find a juice box and a nap.

In a move that can only be described as “aggressively Lubbock,” Moore actually called the police while they were at the scene to let them know he was on Slide Road and planned on coming back to finish the job. When the LPD finally caught up with him, they found his trusty black airsoft pistol along with several magazines of actual, live ammunition—because why bring a knife to a gunfight when you can bring real bullets to a BB gun fight?

Moore is currently sitting in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $110,000 bond. He told authorities he was simply “investigating” a prostitution ring, proving once again that in this town, the line between “concerned citizen” and “guy who shoots windows with toys” is thinner than the tread on a West Texas tumbleweed.

If you’re planning on taking down an international crime syndicate with a Red Ryder, maybe check to see if the neighborhood watch provides dental insurance first.
