Vice President JD Vance was apparently going to grace Lubbock with his presence at the Texas Tech vs. BYU game next Saturday, but—tragically for us—he’s staying in Washington, D.C. instead. According to KCBD, Vance chose the National Veterans Day Parade over a weekend of college football and West Texas wind. The plan was for him to attend the game alongside Texas Tech Chairman (and oil money enthusiast) Cody Campbell.
The rumor mill had been buzzing all week about Vance’s big visit, until it fizzled out faster than a Texas Tech fourth-quarter lead. The VP will now be enjoying a crisp fall day on the National Mall, surrounded by monuments and history, rather than in a stadium full of sunburned fans shouting “wreck ’em” between beer runs.
Tough call, really—historic parade in D.C. or a stadium in Lubbock surrounded by dust, nacho cheese, and BYU fans who don’t drink.
