In yet another episode of “Lubbock: The Series,” a dispute over a debit card somehow managed to escalate all the way to “shoot the person in the chest.” According to police, a 22-year-old man named Kesjon Reed was finally arrested nearly a year after allegedly pulling a gun during an argument on 17th Street—because apparently returning a card politely is not the Lubbock way.

The whole thing started when the victim texted her friend to “pull up” so she could get her debit card back. Instead of one friend pulling up, multiple people arrived like it was an especially low-budget Fast & Furious remake. A verbal fight broke out, and Reed allegedly decided the appropriate next step was to introduce a firearm into the chat. The victim was shot in the upper chest, and everyone involved immediately fled to—of course—a motel.

Police collected a shell casing, the victim survived after treatment at UMC, and Reed vanished until authorities finally tracked him down almost a year later. His bond is set at $25,000, which in Lubbock terms is roughly the price of a used truck with “just needs a little work.”

All this over a debit card. Imagine what might happen if someone asked for their Tupperware back.
