Just a month after being placed on administrative leave by Lubbock ISD, late Friday afternoon, the district posted the campus coordinator/head football coaching position at Monterey, marking the end of Judd Thrashโ€™s tenure after three seasons.

Thrash, who oversaw a complete rebuild of the Plainsmen football program, went from 0-10 in 2022 to a 7-5 record in 2024, winning the District 2-5A Division I title. The Plainsmen earned a first-round playoff victory before falling to eventual regional champion Denton Ryan in the Area Round.

Coach Thrash was placed on administrative leave by LISD following an arrest and vehicle crash in early April. In Thrashโ€™s absence, offensive coordinator Jason Sims has led the program during spring workouts.
