David Burnet Taylor, 58, was arrested Wednesday after a woman told police he lured her out under the pretense of going to a birthday party—only to take her to the Raider Inn Motel instead. (Because nothing says “celebration” like a roadside dive with a bathroom ambush.)
According to the affidavit, once inside, Taylor threatened to hurt the victim if she didn’t comply, ripped off her pants, and sexually assaulted her. When she fought back, he kicked her out of the motel and refused to drive her home. Classy.
A warrant was issued earlier this month, and Taylor was picked up the following morning. He’s now sitting in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
Pro tip: if your idea of a “birthday party” involves threats, assault, and the Raider Inn bathroom, maybe the only candles you should be blowing out are the ones on a prison cake.
