Malachi Perez, 26, was arrested after a woman told police he tried to drown her in a bathtub before sexually assaulting her. The September 4th attack left the victim convinced Perez was attempting to kill her when he pushed her head underwater, according to court records.

Afterward, Perez allegedly forced her into the bedroom and assaulted her. Officers noted that Perez admitted the sexual act was nonconsensual—because apparently confessing doesn’t stop you from being monstrous.

He’s now facing charges of Sexual Assault and Aggravated Assault Family/Household Member Causing Serious Bodily Injury, and is being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on $80,000 bond.

In Lubbock, it seems even taking a bath isn’t safe anymore—because some men treat tubs like crime scenes instead of plumbing.
