James Wilkinson, 74, apparently thought his personal stash of horror would stay hidden under the entertainment center. Instead, the unlucky new homeowners who bought his house in 2023 found VHS tapes and DVDs that allegedly contained child sexual abuse material. Yes, VHS—because nothing says “criminal” like also being technologically stuck in 1993.
The homeowners did the obvious thing and called police, who later found even more material: CDs, hard drives, and a laptop. Court records say Wilkinson had at least 500 files of child abuse content. He was indicted for Possession of Child Pornography, hauled off to the Lubbock County Detention Center, and then bonded out for $50,000.
So now, thanks to one man’s disgusting collection and poor hiding skills, a family moving into their “dream home” also got a nightmare they didn’t sign up for.
Forget “open concept floor plans”—the real hidden feature in Lubbock real estate is a built-in criminal investigation.
