Kutter Webb, 27, will be spending the next 19 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to receiving and distributing child pornography. Authorities caught him after a CyberTip flagged him for sharing hundreds of files, and when they dug deeper, they found over 1,700 images and 216 videos—including material involving infants and toddlers.
Webb’s defense? He claimed the files were just “randomly sent” to him in a group chat, and that they made him “sick,” so he deleted them. Unfortunately for him, the FBI doesn’t usually hand out 19-year sentences for people who just hit delete. Investigators also found he’d had an online sexual conversation with a 15-year-old, though he claimed it ended before any meeting took place.
After his release, Webb will face 25 years of supervised monitoring and will have to register as a sex offender. His federal sentence will also run concurrently with any state charges he’s facing in Lubbock County.
Somewhere in Lubbock, a defense lawyer is still workshopping how “I was hacked by horny ghosts” might play in court.
