In yet another shining moment for Lubbock’s criminal masterminds, Michael Rowland was indicted this week after allegedly answering an online prostitution ad. According to court records, he struck up a conversation with what he thought was a sex worker, blissfully unaware he was actually texting an undercover agent. So far, so stupid.

But then—because apparently we don’t have enough depressing headlines—Rowland took things from “gross” to “straight-up felony nightmare.” When the undercover agent mentioned a 15-year-old girl, Rowland reportedly didn’t slam on the brakes. No, authorities say he agreed. Enthusiastically enough to earn himself a charge of solicitation of prostitution with a minor.

So now he’s facing the very predictable outcome of his very predictable choices, courtesy of a sting operation designed specifically to catch people who think laws—and basic human decency—don’t apply to them. Spoiler: they do.

At this point, should we just set up a revolving door at the courthouse for guys who incriminate themselves in the first five messages?
