Stephen Torres, 39, pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a child and causing injury to another, crimes dating back to January 2020. He was sentenced to four years in prison. Court records say the victim was under 17 at the time of the abuse.
But this wasn’t his first time in front of a judge for hurting kids—Torres was already on probation for a previous child injury case. After this conviction, the court revoked that probation and tacked on another four-year sentence. Still, both terms will run concurrently, meaning Torres is only serving four years total.
The court also gave him 21 days of jail credit, which doesn’t exactly scream “justice served” considering the severity of the crimes.
Four years for sexually assaulting a child and injuring another? In Lubbock, apparently, you can ruin lives and be out before your Netflix queue runs dry.
