John Jimenez Jr., 26, managed to rack up a bingo card of bad decisions at the Flying J on Marsha Sharp. What started as an argument about a bathroom break escalated into him shoving a woman, stealing her phone, and fleeing in her car—all while already under a restraining order to stay away from her. Because, of course, this is Lubbock.
Police didn’t have to play Sherlock Holmes for long—the victim told them Jimenez liked to park in the alley near his house. Sure enough, there was the car. Jimenez tried the ol’ “fake name” trick, but officers found his wallet with the real one inside. (Pro tip: maybe ditch the wallet before you try an alias.)
When searched, he had the stolen phone and a little baggie of “green leafy substance,” which tested positive for marijuana. Add that to the restraining order violation, robbery, interfering with 911, and lying to cops, and his bond stacked up to $95,000.
Only in Lubbock does “I just want to pee with my phone” turn into felony robbery, weed charges, and a restraining order violation. Was it really worth it, John?
