Gerardo Alejandro Mata, 34, was arrested on Wednesday and accused of Indecency with a Child with Sexual Contact, according to court documents obtained on Thursday.
Court records said police responded to a home on Wednesday, where a child younger than 12 years old made an outcry to a family member. The child said Mata inappropriately touched her and when he tried to take it further, she pushed his hand away.
A witness told police she saw Mata in the bathroom with an erection shortly after the child’s outcry. According to court records, Mata told the witness something to the effect of, “Whatever [the child] told her, he did not do it.”
Mata ran from the home and was later located in the 800 block of North Loop 289 without shoes on. Mata was taken into custody. As of Thursday, he remained at the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.
