Overnight, someone scattered “white pride worldwide” flyers complete with a swastika across north and northwest Lubbock. Police were quick to clarify: handing out racist propaganda isn’t actually a crime here, but hey, if enough people feel grossed out, they’ll “look into it.”
Mayor Dan Pope rushed out a statement condemning the flyers, saying they don’t represent “West Texas values.” Because nothing screams West Texas like unsolicited driveway hate mail before your morning coffee.
Even the GOP chairman, Cole Shooter, chimed in, declaring the flyers “racist” and insisting Republicans stand for equal justice for all. Bold words, considering this is the same crew that can’t even bring itself to pass a Pride Month proclamation without clutching pearls.
So, just to recap: distributing Nazi flyers? Legal. Being openly LGBTQ in Lubbock? Still fighting for recognition. Priorities, folks.
