Lubbock police are looking for a dark red Chevrolet Malibu—made sometime between 2013 and 2015—after a fatal hit-and-run that killed 68-year-old Alfred Lopez near 50th and Canton. The driver hit Lopez and kept going, because apparently “stop and help” wasn’t on the checklist that night. Lopez later died at UMC.

Now the Major Crash Investigation Unit is asking for help finding the car, which probably has front-end damage and an owner pretending it “just appeared” after a mysterious run-in with a shopping cart. There’s even a reward for anyone who knows something—because nothing says “justice for the dead” like dangling a cash prize for basic human decency.

A red Malibu with a broken front end in Lubbock? Good luck narrowing that down—might as well ask for tips on which Whataburger drive-thru has the slowest line.
