Andrew Acevedo, 18, was arrested by the Lubbock Police Department and charged with Aggravated Kidnapping with a Deadly Weapon, Sexual Assault and Assault domestic violence, according to court records obtained on Tuesday.
On Sunday, police were called for a woman who had been held against her will. The victim and the suspect were known to each other and were not strangers.
Court records said after an altercation, the victim tried to gather belongings and was eventually able to get to a nearby gas station, with Acevedo following. Since Acevedo took her phone, the victim asked for an employee to call for help and waited outside for police. Court records said at this point, Acevedo, who had a gun, drove up and told the victim to “not make him do this again” and to get in the car.
The victim was scared for her life, so she got in the car. Once they arrived at Acevedo’s apartment, court records said he grabbed the victim’s hair and pulled her to the ground. Court documents said Acevedo took the victim into his apartment and sexually assaulted her. The victim later tried to use the “panic” feature on Acevedo’s phone, but it made a loud noise. Acevedo got mad and sexually assaulted the victim again, court documents said.
Police captured Acevedo in the 4200 block of Huron Avenue. As of Tuesday, he remained at the Lubbock County Detention Center on bonds totaling $185,000.
