Gary Wayne McMillian, a captain with the Texas Department of Public Safety, was arrested at his West Lubbock home by the Texas Rangers. He’s charged with two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact—because apparently, the badge doesn’t keep predators out, it just gives them a bigger stage.
McMillian, who started his DPS career in 2003, is now suspended and sitting in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. That’s couch-cushion money compared to the damage charges like this represent. DPS confirmed the arrest but offered no details—because why own up to how deep the rot runs?
This is the guy who was supposed to represent law and order in Lubbock. Instead, he’s yet another reminder that the biggest threat to your kids isn’t the “bad guy out there,” it’s too often the one in uniform at home.
When the cops need Rangers to police the cops, maybe it’s time to admit the system’s less “thin blue line” and more “Swiss cheese.”
