Lubbock’s Latest Home Renovation Trend: 63 Custom Bullet Holes and a Side of Meth

If you’ve ever felt like your quiet evening at home was missing that certain je ne sais quoi, Nathan Herrera and his buddy are here to help. On March 1, the duo decided to treat the 1300 block of 65th Drive to a live-action remake of a Michael Bay film, minus the budget and the logic. Victims were just minding their own business in their living rooms when the exterior of their apartment suddenly became a high-velocity cheese grater.

The police eventually rolled up to find two-story windows shattered, doors ventilated, and a grand total of 63 bullet casings littering the ground. Apparently, Nathan and his accomplice weren’t just “sending a message”—they were writing a manifesto in lead. Thanks to a neighbor’s doorbell camera, the LPD got a clear view of the two men strolling up with handguns, including one AR-style pistol with an extended magazine, presumably because 30 rounds just isn’t enough when you’re aiming for “local menace” status.

By the time the cops caught up with 20-year-old Nathan on March 3, he had moved on from ballistics to chemistry. Along with four counts of Deadly Conduct, he picked up a fresh set of charges for possessing a veritable pharmacy of narcotics. He’s currently chilling in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $177,000 bond, which is a lot of money, but still cheaper than the therapy those neighbors are going to need every time a car backfires.

Nothing says “Lubbock Charm” quite like 63 rounds of ammunition and enough drugs to jumpstart a dead horse—who needs a hobby when you have felony warrants?
