David Espinoza, caught in the FBI’s “Operation Janus,” pleaded guilty after uploading more than 120 files of child sexual abuse to an online storage account. The case first pinged the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children back in 2020, and by 2021, authorities raided his home.

Adding insult to horror, someone he lived with told investigators she had already found this filth on his phone a year earlier. Espinoza admitted to downloading the files anyway. Now he’s staring at up to 20 years in prison, a lifetime of supervised release, and the sex offender registry.

Lubbock’s starting to look less like a city and more like a permanent FBI field trip.
