Patrick Bradley, 53, already sitting in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a murder charge tied to a 2023 after-hours shooting, picked up a couple of bonus charges this week—because apparently one violent incident just doesn’t capture the full résumé. On December 16, prosecutors added Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Robbery for a separate incident that dates back to 2021. Efficient? No. Very on-brand for Lubbock crime reporting? Absolutely.

That robbery charge comes from January 2021, when Bradley allegedly lost his cool at a store on MLK Boulevard after being asked—politely—to wear a mask. Instead of complying, he reportedly assaulted the worker and threatened to “shoot up the store.” You know, a totally normal reaction to an intercom announcement during a pandemic. Court documents say police didn’t find this behavior charming.

The newer assault charge ties back into the same tangled web as the murder case. In February 2023, shots rang out around 3 a.m. at an after-hours spot on 35th Street, where Clifton Holmon was found with multiple gunshot wounds and later died at UMC. After that shooting, police say Bradley allegedly went across town and fired at a member of Holmon’s family—because when emotions run high, nothing says “closure” like escalating the situation.

Bradley eventually turned himself in, claiming he was close to a victim from a 2022 homicide and believed Holmon and a family member were involved. That belief, according to court records, appears to have fueled the violence. Bradley and Tony Johnson were charged with murder in October 2025. Bradley now sits on a combined bond of $395,000, while Johnson remains in federal prison, still waiting on any aggravated assault charges.

At this point, should Lubbock just start issuing punch cards for felony charges—or is that only redeemable after the fifth violent incident?
