The Lubbock Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is putting out the call: if you’ve got information about former Lubbock High coach and teacher Jeremy Maxfield, now’s the time to step forward. Maxfield, 41, is already facing multiple charges, including four counts of sexual assault of a child and one improper relationship charge.
Court records say his misconduct wasn’t confined to whispers—it happened in classrooms and on school grounds in 2019. After those details surfaced last year, investigators dug deeper, eventually arresting Maxfield in August 2025. Now, another victim has come forward, alleging she was just 15 when Maxfield—then her youth pastor in Amherst—began a “sexual relationship” with her. He was 21.
Police believe there could be more victims and are urging anyone with information to contact Detective Justin Wood. They’ve promised that while witnesses must identify themselves to investigators, their identities will remain shielded from public view under Texas law.
From youth pastor to high school coach, Maxfield seemed to keep finding new pulpits for predation. The question now is—how many times did Lubbock look the other way before victims finally stopped being quiet?
