A man in southeast Lubbock County was arrested Monday after calling 911 to basically say, “Hey, I shot somebody on my property.” Deputies rolled up to the 6100 block of East County Road 7260 where they found 53-year-old Alfredo Garza with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, the alleged shooter, 54-year-old Leslie Harston, somehow managed only “minor injuries,” which—call me crazy—usually means not being shot. Harston is now sitting in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond, because apparently “he was on my land” doesn’t automatically clear you of homicide, even out here.
Authorities haven’t explained what exactly happened or why, so we’re left with the classic West Texas mystery: trespasser or neighbor, disagreement or paranoia, or just another “rural conflict resolution technique” gone extremely wrong. The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing, which in Lubbock means: check back tomorrow when the storyline gets weirder.
Does Ring offer a setting between “motion detected” and “immediately open fire,” or are we just skipping that part out here?
