In another episode of “Totally Normal Things That Happen in Lubbock Schools,” a Lubbock ISD police officer reportedly left their gun behind in a faculty restroom at Coronado High School. The district says the weapon was “quickly recovered and secured,” which is a polite way of saying someone noticed a deadly weapon chilling by the paper towels before the lunch bell.

The officer has been placed on administrative leave, which in Lubbock bureaucratic terms means “a nice, quiet timeout with full pay while everyone pretends this is an isolated incident.” The district isn’t releasing the officer’s name—probably because they don’t want parents Googling “campus cop gun bathroom” before the next board meeting.

Meanwhile, LISD wants everyone to know the investigation is “ongoing,” a phrase that here likely means “we’re waiting until people forget this happened.”

On the bright side, at least the officer didn’t forget the hand soap.
