Former Lubbock ISD coach and teacher Jeremy Maxfield, 41, just had another charge slapped onto his already disgusting rap sheet after yet another victim came forward. Court records now show he faces a fourth charge of sexual assault of a child — because apparently three wasn’t enough.
The latest victim told investigators she was just 15 when Maxfield, then 21 and her youth pastor in Amherst, manipulated her into a “relationship.” She described over 20 separate instances of sexual contact, some in Amherst and others right here in Lubbock. That was back in 2006, long before his more recent crimes as a coach, where court records say he also exchanged nude photos and had sexual contact with a student at Lubbock High in 2019.
Maxfield was arrested by U.S. Marshals in August and is being held on bonds totaling $200,000. He had worked at Lubbock High School from 2007 until his resignation last year, but the allegations now span two decades, two cities, and two roles of trust — teacher and pastor — that he allegedly exploited.
When your résumé reads “coach, teacher, pastor, predator,” maybe the question isn’t how many charges you’ll face — but how many more victims are still out there.
