Because nothing says “community spirit” like destroying a public landmark, someone decided to take their car for a joyride through the Wildflower Trail at Lubbock Lake Landmark — an accessible walking path meant for, you know, actual walking. The result? Around $10,000 in damage, torn-up boards, flattened educational signs, and one very confused operations manager wondering why this city can’t have nice things.

The vandal left behind a trashed trail and a damaged car, proving once again that Lubbock manages to combine stupidity and destruction in truly innovative ways. The Landmark staff — all three of them — are now stuck fixing the mess while asking the public to stay off the trail “for safety reasons.” Because apparently, even the trails here need police protection.

Lubbock Lake Landmark’s Joseph Pitts said the team works hard to maintain the space, which is both a local treasure and a reminder of prehistoric life on the South Plains — before modern Lubbock residents invented a new form of evolution: devolving into idiots with pickup trucks.

Is there a GoFundMe for common sense yet, or are we still waiting on that grant from the Museum of Natural Stupidity?
