Former Lubbock dentist Jason White, once a trusted community figure, is now serving a 30-year federal sentence after admitting to producing child pornography and sexually abusing underage boys. His crimes spanned decades, with court records detailing abuse dating back to when he was just 19. Federal prosecutors said White lured victims by pretending to run a porn business, grooming them with gifts and drugs before exploiting them on camera.

As part of his plea deal, White forfeited $100,000 in cash (instead of his home) and a 996-acre ranch in Garza County. Victims testified in court about the manipulation, shame, and long-term trauma he inflicted — painting a picture of abuse that stretched across years and multiple minors.

And yet, in the middle of all this, White’s attorney offered up the defense of “we’re a faith-based community” and suggested everyone should focus on forgiveness and healing. Because nothing says healing like downplaying systemic abuse with a Bible Belt cliché.

Only in Lubbock do you get sentenced for decades of predatory crimes and still have your lawyer pitch “forgiveness” like it’s a PR strategy. Wonder if that line works at sentencing hearings anywhere else.
