Lubbock Law Enforcement Proves No One Escapes Justice (If You’re Willing to Wait 16 Months)

Ah, Lubbock romance. Back in March 2025, a classic Hub City meeting went down near the corner of 34th Street and Avenue Q—specifically inside an unnamed liquor store. According to court documents, 45-year-old Eric Luna struck up a conversation with a woman and invited her back to his secondary residence to drink and hang out.

Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a casual drink turned into a nightmare. The victim told police she woke up on the kitchen floor to find Luna on top of her, sexually assaulting her. Despite telling him to stop and get off, he refused, but she managed to escape the house, call a cousin for help, and meet with Lubbock police officers at the emergency room.

Naturally, local law enforcement sprang into action with all the speed of a tractor stuck in a dust storm. It took the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office until April 2026—a full 13 months after the assault occurred—to officially issue an arrest warrant for Luna. Because why rush a sexual assault warrant when you can let it age like cheap box wine?

Luna eventually made his way down to Bexar County, presumably assuming Lubbock authorities had forgotten the whole thing—which, given the calendar, was a totally reasonable bet. But the law finally caught up with him on July 10, 2026, when he was arrested in San Antonio and hauled back to the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.

Is there anything more Lubbock than a crime that starts at a 34th Street liquor store and takes over a year of bureaucratic hibernation just to get a warrant printed?
