Ah, Avenue Q. Lubbock’s premier destination for pothole navigation, used car lots, and apparently, dodging bullets at two in the morning. In news that surprises absolutely no one who has ever set foot in the Hub City after dark, the Lubbock Police Department has finally pinned a June 13 club shooting on 38-year-old Cesar Ledezma.
The original incident went down in the 5000 block of Avenue Q, where police responded to shots fired around 2:08 a.m. One victim ended up being rushed to University Medical Center with serious injuries. Because nothing screams “vibrant local nightlife” quite like an emergency room visit before the sun even comes up.
But the real comedy here is how the LPD tracked down their prime suspect. They didn’t have to launch a dramatic manhunt or track him across state lines. Nope, Ledezma was already safely tucked away in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a handful of unrelated charges. It’s always nice when our local citizens show some initiative and streamline the booking process by multitasking their alleged criminal portfolios.
But hey, look on the bright side—at least he saved the city some gas money by already being exactly where they needed him, right?
